James Bond Island Tours from Phuket

James Bond Island, known as Khao Phing Kan, sits in Phang Nga Bay north of Phuket among limestone cliffs rising straight out of the sea. Tours leave Phuket by boat, usually pairing the island with a stop at Koh Panyee, the Muslim fishing village built on stilts, and sometimes a paddle into the bay's sea caves.

The main choice is the boat: a traditional longtail, a speedboat or a catamaran. The James Bond Island Tour by Longtail Boat is Phuket's classic version and includes the national park fee, so there is nothing extra to pay at the pier.

How to choose

Longtail boat

Longtail boats are the traditional way to see Phang Nga Bay, running slower and closer to the water. Happy and raina both run longtail James Bond tours from Phuket, usually with a canoe paddle through the bay's caves and a buffet lunch; Happy's tour has the park fee included in the price.

Speedboat and catamaran

Crystal and Love Andaman run speedboat tours over the same route, faster, useful if you would rather spend less time travelling and more time at the stops. Sawanu, Flash No.7 and Seanery run catamaran tours, some pairing James Bond Island with Naka Island, with more deck space and lunch or dinner on board for a steadier ride.

What's included and when to go

Most James Bond tours include hotel pickup, lunch and a guide. Whether the national park fee is included varies by operator and tour, so check each tour page. November to April is the calmest season for the crossing into Phang Nga Bay; sailings can pause in rough weather from May to October.

Questions before you book.

What is James Bond Island actually called?

Locally it is Khao Phing Kan, a limestone outcrop in Phang Nga Bay. It became known as James Bond Island after the 1974 film The Man with the Golden Gun was partly filmed there, and most tours still use that name.

Does the tour include the national park fee?

It depends on the operator. The James Bond longtail tour includes the park fee in its price; other speedboat and catamaran tours may collect it separately. Each tour page lists exactly what's included.

Do James Bond Island tours visit Koh Panyee?

Many do. Koh Panyee is a Muslim fishing village built on stilts in Phang Nga Bay, and it is a common stop alongside James Bond Island. Check the itinerary on each tour page, since not every tour includes it.

Longtail, speedboat or catamaran: what's the difference?

A longtail is the traditional, slower boat with a closer-to-the-water feel. A speedboat covers the same route faster. A catamaran has more deck space and a steadier ride, and some tours add onboard lunch or Naka Island.

Do these tours include hotel pickup?

Most James Bond Island tours include hotel pickup from set zones in Phuket. The pickup area and time are confirmed after booking, and each tour page lists which areas are covered.

How late can I book a James Bond Island tour?

Online booking closes 24 hours before the start time. After that, message us on WhatsApp and we will check with the operator directly.
